    "Journal" is often used in the title of scholarly journals, but be careful. Sometimes the title has "Journal" but the periodical is NOT scholarly. (Ladies Home Journal)

  • Journals are usually quarterly (winter, spring, summer, fall) or monthly basis.
  • Long, in-depth articles cover case studies, report research, and contain bibliography.
  • Journals are geared toward scholars, researchers, or professionals.
  • Journals contain few advertisements or photographs.
  • Journals are often sponsored by an academic or professional organization.
